September was a great month for Akron UMC Youth. We reached a completely new
attendance level on Wednesday nights when we had 30 youth come on September
13! We have grown so much that we had to make a time change to our Wednesday
night program. Elementary students now attend youth group from 5:00–6:00 while
our middle and high school youth attend from 6:00–7:00. So far, both groups and
our adult leaders are enjoying the change. One of the best parts of the change for
our middle and high school students is that they do not have to listen to the same
lesson as our elementary students. Pastor Paul even let them choose the
curriculum for Wednesday nights and they chose a lesson series called “Boy Meets
Girl.” The series will focus on four of the greatest love stories in the Bible and what
each one can teach us about God’s love for us and the love He wants us to have for
each other. It should be an interesting series with some great discussion.
Pastor David and Pastor Paul had a unique opportunity to serve Tippecanoe
Valley’s varsity football team at their pasta meal on September 27 before they took
on Rochester in the annual bell game! The guys seemed pretty fired up and gave
many thank you’ s for the pasta and desserts that our church provided for them. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the meal! There definitely was not much left over after 70 players, coaches, and managers dug into the food! It was a great way to encourage the team and let them know that their community loves them and that Akron UMC is cheering them on in their game and in their lives.
